True. There are countless blogs and websites out there on health, fitness, finance and investment but that is part of the problem. You can find you've subscribed to all sorts of websites and very quickly your Inbox becomes clogged up with all sorts of information that you never read. I wanted to create a free resource that would cover all these important aspects of life but on one blog so that it can effectively be a one-stop shop.
My wife and I have both played sport at a high level, have been involved in health and fitness for many years (currently running a personal training and pilates studio in Dorset) and I have 20+ years experience managing risk, trading and broking in finance in London - this allows us to speak with practical knowledge and authority on all these subjects. Most importantly we have carried out a successful escape plan.
Both my wife and I are state educated, had no network or family money to fall back on and have never had any outside help (financially or otherwise). I earned good money in the city but certainly wouldn't describe myself as a high flier (I never made it to Director level). None of these statements are made to be boastful or arrogant but to give you confidence that the advice and information we give really does work. Quite literally, if we did it, anyone can.
Most of what I learned was through knowledge and experience through my job, and trial and error investing in the real world during some of the most volatile economic times in modern history. I'm not going to pretend to be an academic or highly qualified economist that so many books and websites out there are written by. Hopefully this allows me to get the information across in an interesting, clear way written in plain English. I'm just a normal guy that has learnt what works in the real world and wants to share that knowledge with anyone willing to learn. This not only applies to the financial aspect. Through having a full time desk job for many years I've had to learn how to stay fit and healthy despite all the obstacles that 21st Century throws at you. So the information you get is from someone who spent over 20 years working 45+ hour weeks, not leaving the desk for lunch, going out at least twice a week client entertaining, whilst helping to raise 2 young children with his Wife. It's practical advice in the real world that works, not the voice of a gym junkie that says you should spend 2 hours at the gym, 5 days a week!
I want to cover health, fitness and finance because although diverse in some ways they are also inextricably linked. If one begins to suffer, it normally has an adverse effect on the others. Whereas, if you can keep all three on an even keel the rest of your life normally takes care of itself. Obviously life can always throw curve balls at you from time to time, which you can't do anything about (see ). But, if you can keep on top of the things you can control you're at least half-way there to a happy life.
So if you are looking for practical advice in carrying out an escape plan, from someone who has been there and done it, please subscribe and read on ...
