I am a creative person and cannot get my head around financial matters - it's like a foreign language to me. How simple is it to invest and maintain control over my investments when I don't understand all the jargon?

Thanks for raising this topic as it's probably the most frequent comment I hear, and one of the major reasons I set up this blog. Most people do not get involved in investing either because they feel like they don't have any money to invest with (we will look at saving and cost-cutting methods to try and change this) or through lack of knowledge or confidence. This blog was set up to explain it clearly and informatively to non-finance savvy people to open up investment to the masses rather than the chosen few. If you want to escape and you're not earning a fortune, you have to be investing in your future
Finance in general, tends to be dressed up in technical jargon with investment treated as a dark art known by the few, but kept secret from the masses. This keeps commissions high and puts pressure on people on the outside to feel like they need to pay for the services of a so-called 'expert'. The Escape Plan will act like a peek behind the Wizard of Oz curtain, cut to the vernacular and reveal that there is no black magic, just sound practical advice that can be applied in the real world to make investment interesting (hopefully!!) and accessible to ordinary people. I will be using plain English and simplifying every topic as much as I can. But, If you ever read one of my articles and don't understand the concepts or feel they need further explanation please feel free to comment further or email me.
